Professional Experience
Dr. Sara Jimenez Alfaro is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie co-fund fellow at Imperial College London, inside the network Energy 4 Future, funded by Iberdrola. She is also an academic visitor at University of Oxford. Before joining the group, she was a Marie Sklodowska-Curie predoctoral fellow at Sorbonne University, inside the network NewFrac. Sara’s research focuses on computational techniques for predicting crack nucleation and propagation in brittle materials. In particular, she has expertise in Phase Field modelling, the Coupled Criterion, and the Matched Asymptotic Approach. She has also developed semi-empirical approaches to find singular elastic solutions for corners and cracks with Robin boundary conditions. She has collaborated with two industries, Iberdrola and Safran. Her contributions have been published in high impact journals and have also been presented at many international conferences.
