Lorea Armendariz is a first-year DPhil student funded by the EPSRC Doctoral Training Partnership. Her research focuses on developing a new generation of hydrogen-resistant alloys.
She obtained a BSc in Physics in 2021 and an MSc in Advanced Materials Engineering in 2023, both from the University of the Basque Country. For her master’s thesis, she investigated the electrochemical behavior and hydrogen-metal interactions in high-entropy alloys. In February 2024, she joined Prof. Emilio Martinez-Pañeda's research group as a visiting master’s student, where she worked on developing hydrogen-resistant hybrid structures. Her current PhD research explores advanced manufacturing techniques to address the challenge of hydrogen embrittlement. Lorea is also a member of Keble College, Oxford.
