Job Wijnen is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Mechanics of Materials Lab at the University of Oxford. Job’s research focuses on understanding hydrogen-assisted failure of welds in steel pipelines through modelling. He uses a multi-physics numerical approach which includes welding mechanics, phase transformations, hydrogen diffusion and fracture mechanics.
Before joining the University of Oxford, Job obtained his PhD at Eindhoven University of Technology, where he studied microscale deformation mechanisms in multi-phase steels using detailed crystal plasticity models.
