Biography
Dr Aaron Baier-Reinio is a postdoctoral researcher in the Mechanics of Materials Group and Junior Research Fellow at Kellogg College. He works on mathematical models and numerical methods for simulating complex physical phenomena, with an emphasis on applications in sustainable energy. His current focus is on solid-state batteries and developing a mathematical understanding of the electrochemical and mechanical processes that determine their performance in electric vehicles.
Much of his research is based on partial differential equations, the mathematical language in which most of the laws of physics and engineering are expressed. He obtained a DPhil in Mathematics from the University of Oxford in 2026. His doctoral research concerned numerical methods for the equations governing the non-equilibrium thermodynamics of chemical mixtures, with applications to lithium-ion batteries.
