Ana Vázquez is a DPhil student at the Podium Institute and the Mechanics of Materials Lab, where she is supervised by Dr Johannes Weickenmeier and Prof Emilio Martínez-Pañeda. Her doctoral studies are funded by the La Caixa Foundation and the Podium Institute. Her research focuses on the computational modelling and simulation of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease, with the aim of understanding disease progression and developing biomedical technologies.
Before joining Oxford, Ana completed an MSc in Integrity and Durability of Materials and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Oviedo. During her studies, she worked as a Research Staff Member at the University of Oviedo and held a research scholarship at the Institute of Industrial Technology of Asturias, where she developed computational models for Alzheimer’s disease.
